Deputies propose to triple the excise tax on autogas

Excise tax will be increased from €52 to €169. Such changes were initiated by Danilo Getmantsev, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy.

The Verkhovna Rada has been discussing the issue of increasing the excise tax on liquefied gas since last week, Nefterynok’s source in parliament said.. According to him, the people's representatives propose to increase the excise tax rate by more than three times — from the current €52/1000 liters to €169/1000 liters.

At a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Tax Committee, People's Deputy Daniil Getmantsev, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, spoke about increasing the rate on LPG. “For me, the issue of raising the excise tax on gas has been resolved,” he said. In his opinion, the proposed rate of €169/1000 liters is too low and will probably be revised upward in the future.

When asked about providing the military with bottled gas — cheap and accessible from the point of view of camouflage (it has no smoke), he said that he did not see a problem in this: “you can supply gasoline vodka,” the people’s deputy believes.

He was appealed by a representative of the Ministry of Finance, who said that the Government considers liquefied gas as an alternative type of fuel and, if necessary, to harmonize rates with European ones, according to EU directives, the rate for liquefied gas should be €68/1000 liters, and for gasoline €359/1000 liters.

Let us remind you that this is the second attempt this year to increase the excise tax on liquefied gas.. Before the increase in fuel taxes to pre-war rates from July 1, 2023. NAU lobbyists spread messages in the media and social networks about the “need to raise gas rates,” and bill No. 9348 was registered in parliament, which proposed raising the excise tax to €129.5 per 1000 liters.
