The first park-and-ride facility will appear on the outskirts of Lviv: the ancient city wants to encourage commuters and guests to leave their cars at the entrance to the regional center and transfer to public transport.
Permission for such development was received by the construction company “Prostir Plus”. She will also finance this pilot project for Lviv.. This is a kind of gratitude to the city for permission to develop the site opposite the Lviv Arena.
It is reported that on February 20, 2024, the developer provided the City Council with a letter of guarantee, according to which the company undertook to finance the construction of an intercept parking lot. The impetus for this step was given permission for the construction of a multifunctional public residential complex with a sports center and outdoor tennis courts.
Regarding parking, it will be located near the King Cross Leopolis shopping center. More precisely, on the contrary. The city reserved that land plot for parking for 1,264 spaces back in 2021.
After the introduction of this parking zone into operation, drivers from the suburbs who come to work, study, or just for shopping or on an excursion to the ancient city will be able to leave their car under guard in the parking lot and get to their desired location much faster by public transport.

“We have an obligation from the company Prostor Plus LLC to build, at our own expense, an intercepting parking lot on Stryiskaya Street, near the hippodrome, with a capacity of 1,264 parking spaces. Let me emphasize: this is a plot of municipal property and upon completion of all work, this Park & Ride will remain in municipal property,” said Lyubomir Zubach, deputy mayor of Lvov for urban planning.
The deputy mayor also expressed hope that the parking lot will encourage incoming drivers to leave their cars in the parking lot and transfer to public transport, which will be faster and more convenient for city logistics. And for the city, this will result in a reduction in harmful emissions into the atmosphere and an improvement in transport traffic, since there will be fewer traffic jams.
