Unique limousine made from an airplane is up for sale

It cost $1 million to create this limousine from the fuselage of a real airplane.. This eight-seater luxury car is set to receive a new owner at auction on November 19th.

The fuselage of the Learjet private jet, which became a limousine called LimoJet, now has all the attributes of a motor vehicle. The rather strangely shaped car even received permission from the US Department of Transportation for use on public roads.

The luxury car was created by Exotic Coach Customs (ECC), based in Addison, Illinois.. Everything took two years to complete, and production cost about $1 million.

The car is a whopping 12.8m long, 2.4m wide and weighs around 5.5 tonnes. The engine compartment was placed at the rear, the transmission and suspension were also developed specially. Despite such a long body, the car remained four-wheeled.

Learmousine has a steel frame and aluminum fuselage from a genuine Learjet. In contrast to the business jet's original all-red body, the limousine was repainted in black and silver with a red stripe prior to the auction.. The steps that fell out were left over from the plane.

With the sound of jet engines

The wings, of course, were disconnected, but the nacelles of the jet engines were left, replacing the engines with two 12-inch subwoofers for an external audio system.. Not only do they stream music, but they can also play the sound effects of a jet engine during takeoff.

The roar of a jet engine in the engine nacelle will be replaced by powerful 12-inch subwoofers. And the music from them will be heard several kilometers away. Photo: ESS

At the front left of the cabin is a luxurious driver's seat finished in carbon fiber.. Top switches, similar to a real cockpit, are designed to control various internal and external effects and controls. From there, the 17,000-watt Showtime Audio system kicks in and is located in the rear.

From there, the 42-inch plasma TV in the aft area and a variety of lighting are also turned on. There is also a toggle switch to turn on the disco-style floor lighting.

Salon bar of glamorous status

Unlike conventional cars, there is an elongated interior with a single longitudinally located sofa.. Without crowding, it can accommodate eight people, and if it becomes a little denser, then all ten.

Of course, you won’t be able to stand upright. This can be perceived as a drawback, but for limousines there is nothing critical here — not a bus. But it's comfortable to sit. You can feast on delicacies and enjoy sparkling wine while listening to music while sitting.

A glamorous party with simulated air travel is guaranteed. True, without dancing there is not enough height. Photo: ESS

In addition to the external audio system, there is an internal one that works together with a huge screen in the rear of the cabin.. Lighting in the floor, ceiling and side panels creates the atmosphere of a glamorous private jet-style party on wheels.

Opposite the sofa along the left side there is a bar with niches for ice buckets and champagne bottles. The lower cabinets contain shelves for dishes and stored food and drinks.

What's missing here is room to dance.. A passage between the sofa and the bar table would partially satisfy the desire, but the height of the cabin does not contribute to this in any way. However, this is compensated by other pleasures.

And the driver instead of the pilot

The steering wheel is made in the form of a steering wheel. In front of the driver is a conventional dashboard. Four screens are connected to cameras in the front and rear of the car.

The developers claim that driving is easy. Believe it or not, parallel parking will obviously be a headache.

The driver's childhood dream of becoming a pilot will come true at the helm of this limousine — the imitation of an airplane cockpit is obvious. Photo: ESS

It uses a 6.1-liter Chevrolet Vortec V8 engine with 400 horsepower.. The maximum speed is 160 km/h.

With a false start of auction bidding

A unique almost 13-meter limousine called Limo Jet, made from the fuselage of a Learjet business jet, was put up for sale on May 14, 2021 at the Mecum auction. However, the matter did not come to a sale.

A year before this, they had already tried to sell it and even found a buyer willing to pay 600 thousand dollars for the unusual vehicle, but for some reason the deal again did not take place.

We will find out later how the auction will end on November 19th.
