Solana Web3 Game "Aurory" Announces Epic Games Launch

Acryptoinvest.news: Solana-based game Aurory is preparing to release its latest expansion, Seekers of Tokane, and also plans to debut a desktop version on the Epic Games Store. This significant step takes Aurory beyond the browser version to offer a richer, more immersive experience.

Aurory gets a new expansion

Aurory, which has been compared to Pokémon due to its fantasy battle elements, improves its gameplay by adding “roguelike” RPG features in the new expansion.

The move marks a significant shift for the game, which is still in development but previously released a limited version of player-to-player (PVP) blitz combat.

It has been announced that Seekers of Tokane will be available in early access for Aurorian NFT owners starting on Thursday. Access codes for the wider community are expected to be distributed in the coming weeks.

An In-Depth Look at Seekers of Tokane

The expansion introduces what the Aurory team describes as an “unlimited number” of different lands to explore. Players can use their Nefts, the game's magical creatures, to battle others in these new environments. This player versus environment (PVE) expansion is a first for Aurory and marks a new direction in its gaming offerings.

A key feature of the new expansion is the “procedural land generation system”. This means that every journey through the portal from the urban village of Blanche leads to a unique, newly created environment, ensuring that no two experiences are the same. This system is expected to add a dynamic and unpredictable element to the game.

Seekers of Tokane's gameplay reflects aspects of RPGs like Diablo 3. Players explore new lands, fight enemies, and search for an exit portal to return to Blanche. However, if the player dies before finding the exit portal, all accumulated loot will be lost. This roguelike RPG element adds a challenging and potentially rewarding layer to the game.

Aurory executive producer Jonathan Campo expressed his excitement for the procedural content, stating:

“We have an endless number of game worlds to explore. That’s the beauty of the system we’ve developed.”

New features in the Seekers of Tokane (SoT) update include an avatar customization system, improved controls for PVP blitz battles, and an Oil upgrade system called “Boost.”. The avatar customization feature alone provides 67 different non-NFT avatar options, giving you a wide variety of fashionable options.

PVP blitz battles will also receive significant improvements. Players now have more control over their battles, being able to choose each of three moves for their Oil per round. This Pokemon-inspired feature also includes elements that make some Oils stronger or weaker than others depending on the type.

The goal is to take inspiration from the simplicity of Pokémon while adding unique features, leading to the development of the 3-action-per-turn battle system now known as Blitz Battles.

Overcoming problems

Despite its success on Solana, Aurory has encountered problems developing games for the web browser. Campo cited technical limitations of WebGL that led to performance issues and long loading times. These issues prompted the team to explore other distribution channels, such as the Epic Games Store.

Campo's excitement about moving from browser to desktop is palpable. He thinks the difference in experience is “insane” and is looking forward to player feedback. With its upcoming launch on the Epic Games Store, Aurory is set to reach new heights in the gaming world, surpassing its browser-based beginnings and offering a richer and more engaging gaming experience.
