The second racket of the world, Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, commented on the first round match of the Australian Open 2024, in which he defeated the French representative Richard Gasquet (131st in the ATP ranking). The meeting ended with the score 7:6 (7:5), 6:1, 6:2 in favor of the Spaniard.
“It's always great to play in Australia, this is my third time coming here. I haven't been able to show decent results before, but I always liked it here. In the match with Richard, I wanted to show a good game. It was hard in the first set, Richard looked great. But I picked up the pace and eventually showed a fairly high level of play,” Alcaraz said at a press conference.
In the next round of competition in Australia, Alcaraz will meet with the 46th racket of the world, Italian tennis player Lorenzo Sonego. The 2024 Australian Open will end on January 28.
