Italy reached the Davis Cup final for the first time since 1998, Djokovic and the team stopped fighting

The national teams of Italy and Serbia fought for the right to play in the Davis Cup final. The tournament takes place in Malaga , Spain, on a hard court surface.

In the first match of the team meeting , Lorenzo Musetti (ATP No. 27) lost to his opponent Miomir Kecmanovic (ATP No. 55). After a difficult victory in the first set ( 7-6 ), the Italian lost the next two almost without a chance ( 2-6; 1-6 ).

The second meeting took place between the team leaders. Novak Djokovic (ATP No. 1) failed to defeat Jannik Sinner (ATP No. 4) in a difficult match.. The score of the match 2-1 (6-2; 2-6; 7-5) was not in favor of the Serb and forced the fate of the confrontation in the doubles match to be decided.

Sinner and Sonego played for Italy, while Serbia was represented by Djokovic and Kecmanovic. The representatives of Squadra Azura won a confident victory in two sets ( 6-3; 6-4 ) and the right to play in the Davis Cup final.

In the final of the tournament they will meet with the Australian team, which previously defeated the representatives of Finland .
