On February 13, 24-year-old Kristina Dmitrenko finished in eighth place in the individual race at the World Championships.
Thus, Christina finished in the top 10 for the first time in her career and updated her personal record.
“To be honest, I’m in shock. I think everyone is in shock. I’m very happy. This is my first four zeros in my career,” Christina responded emotionally immediately after the race.
I didn't set any goals. I wanted to work in a working style over a distance, not to the maximum, to correctly distribute my strength so that I would have enough. After all, it is a long race, a grueling one. I also wanted to do well at the turn. There was very good shooting during the training: eight marks, eight zeros. And I think: we need to move this somehow. And I arrive at the last two milestones and think, this is a training session, we need to do everything like in training,” Dmitrenko said.
Rate of fire? I just knew that if I stood at the last line, it would shake. I think you need to shoot quickly, but also accurately.
When I entered this race, I knew it would be difficult, because I was tired both physically and mentally. There was no jitters, I just wanted to do a good job. And so it happened. I wanted to get into the mass start, that’s why I ran. There will be a relay race and a mass start,” the Ukrainian summed up.
