The Ukrainian women's team suffered a second defeat in a row at the 2023 World Handball Championship

On December 1, the Ukrainian women's team played the second match at the 2023 World Handball Championship. After a 14-year wait, our team has finally returned to the world stage.

This time the Ukrainian team's opponent was the Spanish team. The team is the favorite in the group, as in 2019 Ambrose Martin's team took second place at the World Cup in Japan and fourth place at the previous championship, losing to Norway and Denmark.

In today's match, the Spanish players took the lead from the first minutes and throughout the match they did not let our team get close to them. The first half turned out to be the most competitive, with the score 15:9, Vitaly Andronov’s team played three goals back, but the nominal hosts managed to maintain the advantage and score another goal.

After the break, the Spaniards continued to gain momentum and at the end of the second half of the game they added another 8 points to their advantage.

Thus, the Ukrainian team lost with a score of 32:20 and, with 2 defeats, is in 3rd place in Group G.
