Mercedes boss Toto Wolff expressed the opinion that the team's British driver Lewis Hamilton is still capable of fighting for the world title if he gets a competitive car.
“If we talk about Lewis, he had a bad weekend, that's a fact. But that doesn't affect the fact that he is the greatest driver in the world. If we give him the right car, he will fight for the world title, I have no doubt.
Obviously, with a car like we have now, it’s always difficult. We have good weekends and bad ones. But in the end we see the real Lewis come to life when it comes to winning a race. I think we just need to give him a car,” RaceFans quotes Wolff as saying.
In the 2023 season, Lewis Hamilton took third place in the overall driver standings.
