An early version of The Sims 5 has become publicly available – the game is already protected by Denuvo on PC

Apparently, the leak occurred as part of one of the stages of closed testing of Project Rene – small groups of selected users have already received early access to the game.

It is reported that versions of The Sims 5 for PC and Android have leaked online. We are not talking about the most current build, but a build dated autumn 2022 (October-November) – at the same time the game was officially presented to the public.

Judging by the leaked images, Project Rene is based on the Unreal Engine (version not specified). In addition, on PC the game is supposedly already protected by the Denuvo anti-piracy system.

According to official information, Project Rene will be a free-to-play game with “no subscriptions, required purchases, or the [money-based] energy mechanics” from The Sims Mobile.

At the same time, the developers do not rule out the release of DLC: basic weather mechanics may appear in the main game, while the paid add-on will focus on winter sports.

Project Rene will offer a reinterpretation of familiar elements of the series, multiplayer, cross-play and regular updates. The release date is still unknown, but Maxis is planning open testing and allowing early access.
