Apple Vision Pro headset will be released a little later than originally planned

Although Apple plans to launch sales of the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset in early 2024, Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman believes that this will happen a little later. In the latest issue of the Power On newsletter, he said that the device will debut “sometime in March.”

According to Gurman, the company is still preparing distribution plans for the device and continues to conduct its final testing.

Apple plans to start selling Vision Pro in the US, after which the headset will be available in other countries around the world in 2024. It is expected that the device will be available by appointment only in Apple retail stores or in the company's online store. It will not be possible to buy Vision Pro from third-party retailers due to Apple's intention to carefully organize the launch process of its new wearable device. Retail stores will also need to adequately stock various Vision Pro components, such as belt sizes and prescription lenses.

Software development teams are aiming to be ready for Vision Pro's January debut, Gurman said.. The latest beta version of VisionOS includes videos and product introduction materials that usually appear towards the end of the software development cycle. The current iOS 17.2 beta includes Vision Pro-specific features such as the AirPlay Receiver app and the ability to capture 3D spatial video using the iPhone 15 Pro.

Ahead of the Vision Pro's release in March next year, the company is expected to hold another event to give users new details about the headset, including some apps and features that weren't quite ready to be shown off at the device's WWDC reveal in June.
