Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red has announced that most of its employees are working on the new Witcher game.

Last year, CD Projekt Red announced that it would begin production on the next game in The Witcher series, which would begin a new trilogy within the franchise.. Since then, the company has not disclosed details about the new game.

For now, all we know is that The Witcher 4, codenamed Polaris, will be an open-world RPG, and will continue in the tradition of 2015's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

According to Insider Daming, it also became known that the company has already intensified work on a new game. From its earnings report for the 3rd quarter of 2023 it follows that more than half of the company's developers have already moved on to work on The Witcher 4. At the same time, more and more developers are freed from work on Cyberpunk 2077 ( probably to join Polaris development).

The game's release date is still unknown. The company previously stated that following the release of Polaris, the entire next trilogy would be released within six years.

Let us remind you that the popular series of games from CD Projekt RED – The Witcher is based on the novels and stories of the writer Andrzej Sapkowski. In the center of the story is the hunter of dangerous monsters, the witcher Geralt of Rivia.. A TV series is also being filmed based on this fantasy series.

As of 2023, three main standalone games, two expansion packs, and seven additional games have been released. The first game in the series was released in 2007. The last one was in 2015.

The series received critical acclaim and became a commercial success. Now the latest game in the series, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has 98% positive reviews from critics and 96% positive reviews from players on Steam.

In 2022, the company, as NV Techno wrote, announced that it was working on a remake of the very first game in the series. At the same time, the fourth part of the franchise is being developed.
