Calls on WhatsApp messenger can now be made more secure. However, enabling new protection settings may affect sound quality.
Messenger users have received a new feature “ IP address protection during calls”, which allows you to hide your IP address from the interlocutor. This happens using the WhatsApp relay service.
“Once [the feature] is activated, calls will be relayed through the Meta or WhatsApp servers, thus hiding your real IP address,” explains the owner of the Meta messenger in his blog.
Those who are particularly concerned about privacy can take advantage of this feature by turning on protection in the settings section “ Confidentiality”.
However, WhatsApp warns that if your calls are protected in this way, the sound quality may be worse.
“When using call relay, call quality may deteriorate. As always, your WhatsApp calls are protected by end-to-end encryption. No one, not even WhatsApp, can listen to them,” the company notes.
Earlier, NV Techno wrote that WhatsApp has added a feature that allows you to turn off the call sound if you receive calls from unknown numbers. This opportunity was provided to users after clients from India complained about an increase in the number of spam calls in the messenger.
