A terrifying incident occurred at a clinic in the USA. A patient scheduled for an MRI scan went into the machine with a gun in her pocket.
According to a report from the US Food and Drug Administration ( FDA), the pistol, attracted by the magnetic field of the device, fired a shot, wounding the woman in the buttock area.
The patient, who was warned about the dangers of metal objects before the scan, replied that she had nothing of the kind. However, when she lay down in the device, the weapon in her pocket reacted to the magnet and fired.

BMJ science editor Abi Berger explained that MRI machines use powerful magnetic fields and radio waves to create images of a patient's internal organs. He emphasized that the resonance of hydrogen protons in the body occurs under the influence of these fields, which makes it possible to create images for diagnostics.
This incident highlights the dangers of having metal objects near MRI machines, especially weapons, which can lead to serious consequences such as injury or fire.
The report does not report the further fate of the woman.. But a similar case in Brazil, when a male patient brought a gun into the scanner, ended in death.
