Microsoft periodically forces Windows updates on consumer computers. This is necessary to ensure that a significant portion of users work with current builds of the software platform. The software giant will do the same with Windows 11 23H2, released last year, which is entering a wider rollout phase.

Microsoft's support page has revealed that compatible computers will soon be forced to upgrade to Windows 11 23H2. “This automatic update is intended for devices running versions of Windows 11 that are ending or nearing the end of support,” Microsoft said in a statement.
Therefore, the forced update awaits devices that are currently running Windows 11 21H2 and Windows 11 22H2. Support for Windows 11 21H2 ended on October 10, 2023, and Windows 11 22H2 will remain available until October 8, 2024. End of support means that Microsoft will no longer release updates for these versions of the OS, including security patches.
Automatic update to Windows 11 23H2 will take place in several stages. As part of this effort, Microsoft uses artificial intelligence technology to identify devices that are most compatible with the update to reduce the likelihood of unexpected situations occurring.. These computers will be updated first, and systems that may experience problems due to the update will be moved to the back of the queue.
