Four years after its release, the PC version of the western action game Red Dead Redemption 2 set a new personal record for popularity on Steam.

On November 26, there were 77,655 concurrent users on the Steam version of Red Dead Redemption 2. The previous record (70,914) was recorded on January 29 this year. 95% of reviews left by customers over the past 30 days have been positive (in total, more than 22.1 thousand were published during this time. reviews).
The increase in interest in the game is due to the autumn sale (until 21:00 Moscow time on November 28, the basic edition of the action game is offered for 67%, and the Ultimate Edition – 70% cheaper), but only partly, since it receives such a discount quite often. Apparently, the upcoming release of the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, which will take place in early December (possibly in the early morning of December 8th as part of The Game Awards 2023), also played a role.
Sales of Red Dead Redemption 2 continue to grow, with more than 57 million copies sold across all platforms combined.. This information is provided in the Take-Two Interactive report for the second quarter of the 2024 financial year (July 1 – September 30, 2023).

The popularity of the sequel continues despite the fact that last year Rockstar Games said goodbye to the online component of the project.. In September 2022, the company left a message to its employees in the Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online update, thanking them for creating the games. Two months earlier, the authors announced a significant reduction in support for the action game (no major content updates have appeared since then) and a switch to development of the next Grand Theft Auto.
Modders are not abandoning the game either.. Among other things, over the past year, enthusiasts have restored replicas cut by developers, expanded gameplay capabilities through unique scenarios for NPCs (allowing, for example, to play the piano or sleep on beds) and the mechanics of piercing objects with bullets, added unofficial support for NVIDIA DLSS 3 (double performance increase) , New Game + mode, random events, the Nuevo Paraiso region and horses from the first part, and also improved textures, effects and physics.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released on October 26, 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on November 5, 2019 on PC. The PS4 version has the same Metacritic rating (97/100) as Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. According to rumors, the sequel will move to the Nintendo Switch after the first game.
During the fall sale, the shooter Battlefield V also updated its own online record.
