The electric Porsche Macan will have one of the largest head-up displays in the world
Porsche showed how projection works in the new electric Macan. The company published a series of photos of the interior of an electric crossover. Here you can see the architecture of the front panel with three screens and how projection with augmented reality works.
Porsche says the head-up display in the new Macan is one of the largest in existence.. The image covers the space in front of the car ten meters forward and 2.2 meters to the side.
The Macan's front panel has three screens: a 12.6-inch digital instrument panel, a central 10.9-inch touchscreen and another additional display in front of the front passenger of the same size — it can display videos, for example, from YouTube. The application can be downloaded through the Porsche App Center, which in addition to YouTube includes Spotify, WebEx (video conferencing), maps and various games.
Despite the general trend, Porsche has not abandoned physical buttons and switches; there are many of them in the Macan interior. On the center console you can see a combined control unit for temperature, seat heating and ventilation. The main feature of the electric Macan is an augmented reality projection that displays tips for the driver on the windshield. The official photos showed navigation arrows and graphics of the lane control system.
The electronic Porsche Macan will hit the market in early 2024. It is already known that the crossover will be based on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, it will receive several power plants to choose from, and the battery will have a capacity of 100 kilowatt-hours. The Macan's electrical system is 800-volt, which will allow charging with direct current with a power of up to 350 kilowatts.
According to unofficial information, the electric Macan will share components and assemblies with the Taycan: two electric motors will be installed on the front and rear axles, and in total they will produce 612 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque. Moreover, one of the electric motors is moved as far back as possible for better entertainment — the weight will be distributed in a ratio of 48:52 versus 49:51 for the Taycan.
