Billionaire and former OpenAI board member Elon Musk said the company should disclose the reasons for the sudden dismissal of its CEO Sam Altman..

Musk said the potential dangers from artificial intelligence are so great that OpenAI, which is the most powerful artificial intelligence company in the world, must explain the latest changes in the company's leadership.

“Given the risk and power of advanced artificial intelligence, the public should be informed as to why the board believes they must take such drastic action,” he wrote in X ( Twitter).

Recall that Sam Altman, together with Elon Musk, founded the OpenAI artificial intelligence research laboratory in 2015, now known throughout the world thanks to its ChatGPT chatbot and large GPT language models.

Musk resigned from the board in 2018, but remained a donor to the company.. In an interview with CNBC in May of this year, he said he ended up investing about $50 million in the company.. He also stated that OpenAI does not pay enough attention to safe AI development. At the beginning of the year, I wrote a letter demanding that the company stop its development until it provides safety guarantees.

Despite the warnings expressed in the letter about the dangers of AI, in April Musk himself registered the company xAI, which deals with the same technology.

NV wrote that on Friday, November 17, OpenAI fired its CEO Sam Altman. The dismissal of Altman, who headed OpenAI since 2019, was explained by the fact that the company « no longer confident in his ability to continue to lead» and that he «has not always been forthright» with management.

At the same time, the possible reason for Altman's removal is said to be the growing tension among the company's management due to the danger of artificial intelligence for humanity.. It was reported that Altman was aggressively seeking funding to expand development of the technology, while several other board members called on the company to do more to mitigate potential threats. In particular, The New York Times wrote that OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever, even before Altman's removal, created a Super Alignment team in the company, which worked to ensure that their GPT-4 and ChatGPT developments would not be harmful to humanity.
