General Motors issued a statement expressing confidence in Andretti-Cadillac's bid to create a new Formula 1 team, Motorsport reports.
In October 2023, the FIA approved the Americans' application, but on January 31, F1 published a statement rejecting the application.
GM Vice President of Performance and Motorsports Jim Campbell said the project is still moving forward “at its own pace.”
Although Andretti-Cadillac's application for 2026 was rejected, General Motors still aims to get into the “royal race”, but already in 2028.
According to the source, by that time the potential new team will have its own power plant, while in 2026 the team intended to use Renault engines.

However, Campbell also downplayed suggestions that GM felt insulted by Formula 1's claim that the project was uncompetitive, which was the main reason for the refusal.
