Nintendo is launching an adult-only version of its subscription service for the Switch gaming console in one country.

An adults-only Nintendo Switch Online app called Nintendo 64 Switch 18+ will launch in Japan on November 30. The company was forced to take this step due to the release of updated versions of long-forgotten hit games of the 90s, Gamerant writes.

The fact is that the updated 1999 sci-fi third-person shooter Jet Force Gemini and the 1997 Bond first-person shooter GoldenEye 007, which appeared on Xbox Game Pass and Nintendo Switch Online this year, received a Z rating in Japan ( for persons over 18 years old). The distribution of such content is strictly limited in the country.

Japanese computer entertainment organization ( CERO) requires all Z-rated games in the country to be separated from other software. In the context of digital platforms, this regulation stipulates that such positions must be placed on pages that, in order to access them, users must confirm that they are at least 18 years of age. These same classic games, originally released for the Nintendo 64 platform, receive a softer classification of 16+ in Western countries.

It is expected that the Nintendo 64 Switch 18+ will contain GoldenEye 007 and Jet Force Gemini from day one, and will then be supplemented with other games. Whether his work will be extended to other countries remains to be seen.

NV Techno previously wrote that Nintendo has already sold almost 7 million Switch units this year. This was achieved by extending the life cycle of the gaming console.
