MSI announced at CES 2024 the GeForce RTX 4080 Super video card in the new proprietary EXPERT series. The new product has a minimalistic but attractive appearance, which is partly reminiscent of the design of NVIDIA Founders Edition reference video cards of the current generation.

NVIDIA yesterday introduced the GeForce RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4070 Super video cards. Soon after this, its partners announced their custom versions of these accelerators. Most of them didn't stand out at all. Some versions, as expected, offer a slight additional factory overclocking of the GPU. At the same time, the vast majority of variants of the presented video cards were equipped with cooling systems that were already used by predecessors or other models within the GeForce RTX 40 series. The only thing that stood out was MSI, which clearly “did its homework” more responsibly. The company presented its version of the GeForce RTX 4080 Super EXPERT.
Journalists from the Wccftech portal were able to visit the MSI stand at CES 2024 and get to know the GeForce RTX 4080 Super EXPERT. When developing its cooling system, the engineers of the Taiwanese company were clearly inspired by the appearance of the reference RTX 4080 Founders Edition.
The MSI GeForce RTX 4080 Super EXPERT cooling system casing, as well as its rear reinforcement plate, are completely cast from aluminum and are made in champagne color. They do not use plastic, which gives the video card a premium appearance.
The video card cooling system uses vapor chamber technology, which, in combination with heat pipes, effectively transfers heat from the GPU to the radiator. To cool the radiator itself, there are two Zero Frozr fans with a push-pull system, when one fan works for blowing in and the other for blowing out. NVIDIA uses the same approach in its reference versions of Founders Edition video cards.
The MSI GeForce RTX 4080 Super EXPERT does not have RGB backlighting, which would clearly be superfluous here. The accelerator receives additional power via one 600-W 12V-2×6 connector, which replaced the 12VHPWR.
For now, MSI will release only one GeForce RTX 4080 Super in the EXPERT series. The manufacturer first wants to see the reaction of customers to this new product. If consumers like the card, then, very likely, other models will begin to be produced in this branded series.
