The Starfield game, which set viewership records in recent weeks and then lost tens of thousands of daily players, has received a significant update.

In September, Starfield was released on PC without official DLSS support. The updated version 1.8.86 provides support for this image scaling technology.

“This update brings Nvidia DLSS support to our PC players. Compatible Nvidia graphics cards can now use DLSS Super Resolution, Deep Learning Anti-aliasing ( DLAA), Nvidia Reflex Low Latency and DLSS frame generation,” Bethesda said in a blog post.

Bethesda has also fixed memory leaks and other related issues, improved rendering threads, and made a number of other stability and performance improvements. Graphics controls have also been added – brightness and contrast settings.

The gameplay also received several updates. Players can now eat food placed in the world using Consumption buttons” rather than simply adding items to inventory.

In addition, a number of problems have been fixed. In particular, related to the fact that some NPCs could be seen without clothes, camera shake and the inability to fire weapons.

Starfield, the first new universe in a decade from Bethesda, the studio behind Skyrim and Fallout 4, was fully launched on September 6, 2023. Before this, owners of the premium edition on PC and Xbox Series consoles were able to evaluate it. Starfield has already become one of the best-selling games. By the end of September it had attracted 10 million players. At the same time, according to Steam Charts, the game had the largest number of concurrent players – 330 thousand.

In subsequent weeks, the popularity of the game gradually declined, and now the average number of players per month is about 25 thousand, the peak is 63 thousand. The game's rating on Steam has also become worse: at the end of September there were 76% positive user reviews, now – 69%.
