Uber is launching a mini-pilot program during which its taxi service customers will be able to not only order transportation and delivery services, but also hire people to perform various household tasks.
The new feature is called Uber Tasks. It will allow you to order services for furniture assembly, laundry, snow removal, help with packing or unpacking boxes, decorating your home for the holiday, cleaning the yard and gardening – anything that people who work for Uber as drivers and couriers can help customers with.. Uber Tasks will operate in Fort Myers during the pilot ( Florida, USA) and Edmonton ( Alberta, Canada).
Uber presents this feature as a way to earn extra income for its workers and notes that the approximate cost of services will be reflected in the application.
“This small pilot project is the latest way for drivers and couriers to use their skills and earn money on their own schedule.. We are always thinking about how to provide people with more ways to make money with Uber,” a company representative said in a comment to Bloomberg.
At the same time, the publication notes that Uber Tasks may be a way to improve the financial situation for the company itself. Uber posted its slowest revenue growth in 10 quarters in its latest report.
