According to a new study conducted by artificial intelligence, the famous painting by Raphael Madonna of the Rose” depicts a face not painted by this legendary master.

Experts from the Universities of Nottingham, Bradford and Stanford used in-depth analysis of the map's features to reveal that St Joseph's face was likely created by a different artist.

The painting, located in the Prado Museum in Madrid, has been controversial among art historians, and new research has contributed to understanding the origins of the work.

Professor Hasan Ughail from the University of Bradford has developed an algorithm capable of recognizing authentic works by Raphael with 98% accuracy.. Using this algorithm on the Madonna of the Rose revealed that while most of the painting was attributed to Raphael, the face of St. Joseph was probably by another artist.

Professor Ugail emphasized that this analysis is an objective method based on machine learning and can serve as an important tool for future research on works of art.

It also highlights the importance of introducing technology into the authentication and examination of works of art, although, as Professor Ugail noted, artificial intelligence is not intended to replace, but to complement the efforts of researchers.

This study sheds light on the mysteries of historical works of art and demonstrates how modern technology can help understand and analyze them.
