Millions of liters of oil have spilled into the Gulf of Mexico, raising serious concerns about the potential impact on the region's ecosystem..
The incident occurred off the southeast coast of Louisiana, where an oil sheen was seen on the surface of the water.

Pipeline company Third Coast Midstream initially reported the leak, and later that day an oil slick between 4.8 and 6.4 kilometers wide was confirmed.. Recovery vessels and other assets have been deployed to collect oil from the surface while remotely operated vehicles and divers work to identify the source of the leak.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation, but it is believed that the leak may have originated from Main Pass Oil Gathering's pipeline system ( MPOG), owned by Third Coast Midstream. The pipeline is 108 kilometers long and damaged sections are currently being identified.
Although preliminary estimates from the US Coast Guard indicate a possible release of up to 4 million liters of crude oil, the exact volume is not yet known.
Authorities emphasize coordination with federal, state and local agencies to ensure public safety, protect the environment and respond to the incident.
