Renault Master 2024: all the information about the new innovative van

Renault has turned the fourth page of the new generation of the legendary Master series. Now this debutant will come with three different energy platforms and innovations throughout almost the entire design.

Today it is the only car in the LCV line made in France from scratch: three power units and all bodies are made on the same production line at the Batilly plant in the east of the country.

Since 1980, Renault has sold more than 3 million Master vans, making it the leader in its category in Europe. Renault Master models are now on the roads in more than 50 countries. The fourth generation of this series of machines is designed to continue its success.

Design

The current interior of the all-new Renault Master is similar to the interior of passenger cars. The S-shaped instrument panel faces the driver, adding space to the interior. The materials are refined, and the 10-inch screen that comes standard in the range adds a touch of technology.

Dark upholstery enhances the cocooning feel of the state-of-the-art cabin. The steering wheel is from a car collection and you can adjust its height and depth to find the right position for you. Automatic versions now have steering wheel-mounted gear levers, opening up even more space in the center console.

There is now 135 liters of total luggage storage space – an increase of 25%. It's also an office on wheels.. The middle seat back folds down into a table, there's a laptop storage slot in the base, and there are USB-C ports for powering devices.

The exterior of the car is distinguished by vertical grilles, horizontal LED headlights and reinforced bumpers.

Multi-energy platform

The new Master version received four Diesel Blue dCi power units with 105, 130, 150 and 170 hp. They consume on average 1.5 liters less fuel per 100 km and emit 39 grams less CO2. The transmission can usually be equipped with a manual gearbox or an automatic transmission with an EAG9 torque converter.

The all-electric new versions of the Renault Master are equipped with a 96 kW or 105 kW engine, in both cases 300 Nm of torque. The first is powered by a 40 kWh battery and has a range of 180 km using the WLTP protocol, the second is powered by an 87 kWh battery with a range of more than 410 km using the same protocol.

130 kW DC fast charging adds 229 km of range in 30 minutes. A 22kW AC home charger charges a battery from 10% to 100% in less than 4 hours.

The all-new Renault Master also features an H2-Tech hydrogen engine and fuel cells. There is a Diesel Blue dCi engine with power from 105 to 170 hp, electric motors with a power of 96 or 105 kW and batteries with a capacity of 40/87 kWh, which provide a range of more than 410 km.

Technology

The Master features new Dynamic Brake Control with Power Assist, which keeps braking performance and pedal feel consistent regardless of the van's weight. It also initiates the automatic emergency braking system faster (response time is halved) and improves regeneration, extending the range of electric vehicles.

A set of 20 driver assistance systems ensures maximum safety for people in and around. Active safety features are on alert and include lateral stability control, automatic emergency braking and trailer stability control.. It also comes with Intelligent Speed Assist, which helps the driver stay within the speed limit.

Thanks to innovations, it is possible to power custom body parts (coolers, automatic tailgates, additional heating or air conditioning systems, etc.) directly from the battery.

The all-new Renault Master will also be able to supply energy from its battery to the grid (V2G) using a bi-directional charger.

Communication systems

The current Renault Master is a digital minibus, factory equipped with all the features to improve its performance. OpenR Link multimedia system comes standard on every model. It has a 10-inch screen and wired and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connections for mirroring your smartphone screen.

This is also the first time that Google's state-of-the-art OpenR Link system is available in LCV. Therefore, drivers will have access to Google Maps navigation capabilities, the Google Play application catalog and the Google Assistant voice assistant directly integrated into the dashboard.

OpenR Link is simple, intuitive and works like a tablet. You can interact with it using the touch screen or voice via Google Assistant.

The My Renault app and its range of remote assistance services specifically designed for electric vehicles connect you to the all-new Renault Master, a high-tech car that's always ready to help.

LCV to a new level

The all-new Renault Master comes with a full range of almost 20 body configurations ranging from 11 to 22 cubic meters. Here the sliding side doors are 40 mm wider. Its large load capacity, length, width and volume make it an ideal van.

There are 20 conversion bases available at production plants, where workshops can directly carry out a number of changes (adding dump trucks, deepening cabs, increasing volume, etc.). This catalog of factory kits also reduces turnaround times and simplifies transport logistics.

A shorter wheelbase and redesigned front axle provide agility, including an incredibly short turning circle of 1.5 metres.

Customers can even opt for the L3 version for city driving (L2 is the base car, L3 is available with front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, and L4 has rear-wheel drive).

The new Renault Master is expected to be available in spring 2024. The manufacturer has kept silent about the price tag for now.
