The capital's authorities have installed a new type of obstacle, the «Berlin pillow», in the Dnieper district of Kyiv.
CP «TsODR» installed the first «Berlin pillow» traffic calming device on Bazhova Street.
This device is an artificial hump that is designed to reduce the speed of passenger cars. Special equipment and buses with a wider wheelbase allow this unevenness between the wheels to pass, and road users on two-wheeled vehicles can avoid the obstacle.
The issue of installing “Berlin pillows” on other streets of Kyiv will be resolved after the completion of the experimental period of operation. If the experiment is successful, the Kyiv authorities promise to install such devices on other streets of the city.
