Apple and Google today announced their lists of the best programs of the year.. Both did not feature the super-popular AI chatbot ChatGPT.
Apple's App Store Award list for this year bucked the trend of recognizing programs that were new to the app store or used the latest technology.. Instead, awards went to older but well-developed programs like language learning app Duolingo and travel app Flighty. And the iPhone app of the year in 2023 was the outdoor program AllTrails, which helps you choose routes for cycling or walking..
Despite the incredible success of the ChatGPT mobile app, Apple did not mention it in either the main collection or the Cultural Impact category, which includes apps that have a significant cultural impact.. At the same time, the company called programs with generative artificial intelligence – without mentioning specific names – the trend of the year.

Google named Imprint: Learn Visually as the best learning app this year. At the same time, Spotify was named the best app for multiple devices.
Google still had to mention ChatGPT, albeit in passing. The company allowed users to vote for their favorite apps. And the program of the year, according to users, was expectedly ChatGPT. This app also received an honorable mention – but not a nomination – in the “ The best with artificial intelligence.”
As NV Techno wrote, ChatGPT set a record earlier this year as the application that attracted 100 million users the fastest. This record was later broken by the Instagram Threads app, which reached 100 million users in just five days.
In the spring of 2023, Google introduced its own chatbot based on artificial intelligence, Bard, which competed with the OpenAI product. Media reported that Apple is also creating its own AI chatbot called Ajax. At the same time, analysts predicted that if it is released, it will not even happen next year.
