NVIDIA introduced GeForce RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4070 Super video cards – from $599 to $999

As expected, NVIDIA today introduced GeForce RTX 4000 Super video cards. The manufacturer announced the GeForce RTX 4080 Super, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super and GeForce RTX 4070 Super models. The new items received more powerful GPUs compared to the regular RTX 4080, RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 models. The configurations of memory subsystems also differ.

Only GeForce RTX 4080 Super and GeForce RTX 4070 Super will be released in the Founders Edition reference design. In turn, the RTX 4070 Ti Super will be available only in versions from NVIDIA partners, who will also release their versions of two other new products.

The GeForce RTX 4080 Super features an AD103-400 GPU with 10,240 CUDA cores, which is 512 more than the AD103-300 chip found in the regular RTX 4080. The base and boost GPU frequencies of the RTX 4080 Super model increased to 2295 and 2550 MHz, respectively.. The original RTX 4080 model, we recall, has reference frequencies of 2205 and 2505 MHz, respectively..

If the original RTX 4080 model is equipped with memory with a speed of 22.4 Gbps per pin, then the Super version received 16 GB of GDDR6X memory with a speed of 23 Gbps per pin – this is the video card with the fastest GDDR memory on the market. The upgrade will increase total memory bandwidth by 2.6%, to 736 GB/s. At the same time, the memory bus width remained the same – 256 bits. The stated power consumption of the RTX 4080 Super also remains unchanged at 320 W.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super model received an AD103-275 graphics processor with 8448 CUDA cores, which is 768 more than the AD104-400 in the RTX 4070 Ti video card. The base and boost GPU frequencies of the new RTX 4070 Ti Super accelerator are 2340 and 2610 MHz, respectively.. Let us recall that for the GPU of the regular RTX 4070 Ti the frequencies are stated to be 2310 and 2610 MHz.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super video card received 16 GB of GDDR6X memory with a speed of 21 Gbps per pin with support for a 256-bit bus. This increased its throughput to 672 GB/s. For comparison, the RTX 4070 Ti has 12 GB of GDDR6X memory with support for a 192-bit bus, 21 Gbps per pin and 504 GB/s bandwidth. The energy consumption of the new model has not changed and is 285 W.

Finally, the GeForce RTX 4070 Super model received an AD104-350 graphics processor with 7168 CUDA cores, which is 1280 more than the AD104-250 in the regular RTX 4070. The base and boost frequencies of the new GPU are 1980 and 2475 MHz, respectively, while the regular RTX 4070 is 1920 and 2475 MHz.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Super model received the same 12 GB of video memory as the regular RTX 4070. The memory operates at 21 Gb/s per pin, supports a 192-bit bus and maintains the same bandwidth of 504 GB/s. The power consumption of the new product has also not changed and is 200 W.

All GeForce RTX 40 Super series video cards received one 12+4-pin power connector.

Unfortunately, NVIDIA did not compare the new Super cards with regular GeForce RTX 40 series models. Instead, the manufacturer compared the new products with the previous generation GeForce RTX 30 series video cards based on the Ampere architecture, against which the new products obviously look much faster. Not only in games, but also in AI-related tasks.

NVIDIA claims that, for example, the GeForce RTX 4070 Super is faster than the flagship of the previous generation GeForce RTX 3090. And when using DLSS 3 image scaling technology, the performance gap in favor of the new Super models becomes even larger.

It will be possible to check these statements, as well as evaluate the performance of the Super models against the background of regular GeForce RTX 4080, RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 cards, only when their independent reviews appear. This will happen during January.

GeForce RTX 4080 Super and GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super video cards will completely replace the regular RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti on sale. At the same time, NVIDIA priced the GeForce RTX 4080 Super at $999, which is $200 cheaper than the original RTX 4080. The RTX 4070 Ti Super model is priced at $799 – the same price as the regular RTX 4070 Ti at launch. In turn, the GeForce RTX 4070 Super will be sold along with the regular GeForce RTX 4070. The price of the new card is $599, while for the regular RTX 4070 the company has reduced the price from $599 to $549.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Super video card will be the first to go on sale on January 17. Sales of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super will begin on January 24, and the GeForce RTX 4080 Super model will begin on January 31.
